Ok, so the title is a bit misleading because you won’t be surprised to see that the best hosting in Phnom Penh isn’t actually in Cambodia at all.

WHERE TO START WHEN LOOKING FOR THE BEST HOSTING IN CAMBODIA

Most, if not all of us will start with a Google search. “best web hosting in Phnom Penh” or “Best web hosting sites” ought to come up with a list to start with. Better still is a recommendation from someone’s who has been through this issue and solved it.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

So when searching for the best hosting, avoid the words:

CHEAP, BASIC and BUDGET, and any other low-cost description that the service the web hosting company provides.

Cheap, basic and budget web hosting are NOT what you want.

We’ve used a wide range of hosting providers across the globe. Why Bluehost ? Initially they seemed good value and we needed the unlimited package as many web designers and developers do. We still use them for many of our test installations and they have a one-click WordPress setup which is great for us with 95% of our website development being done on WordPress.

E-Mail doesn’t arrive.

Our own domain suffered from this problem, sending mail to some clients resulted in the mail never arriving. We traced this to some Spam Lists having Bluehost’s mail server on their spam senders list. So any mail we sent would always end up in the junk folder. We had the same problem with clients and their contact form details never getting to them. That was the final straw, and moving hosting providers to Siteground cured the issue instantly.

Downtime

Very few organisations monitor the uptime of their website, we do it as standard for all our clients. We just ping the server every few minutes to check its still up. As part of this we discovered that sites hosted on Bluehost went down almost every weekend. Only for a few minutes each time, but its a regular issue.
